Bible Reading Marathon at the Capitol begins April 30th

The National Day of Prayer is coming up on May 5th, but leading up to it is a Bible Reading Marathon which will be held on the north steps of the State Capitol Building. The Bible will be read publicly and in a number of languages from 7 PM Saturday, April 30 thru 10 PM Thursday, May 5.

An opening worship service will be conducted at 6 PM on April 30th.

To park during the daytime, use the Legislative Office Building garage next to the Armory.  Weekends & evenings you can park in the visitors’ lot facing Bushnell Park.

“Esperanza ” movie to be shown in Norwich, March 27th

Peniel Church in Norwich will host a showing of “Esperanza,” a short film based on the true story of a woman who helped inspire a historic gospel festival in Barcelona in 2012. While her name means hope, that hope was tested from the beginning of her life as her father tried to kill her when she was in the womb by throwing her mother down the stairs. As an infant, she was sold to a Bedouin tribe. But today she inspires church leaders across Barcelona to put their faith in God.

This film will be shown at 6 p.m. on March 27th at 134 Boswell Avenue. Admission is free and will feature special music along with the film. The Call concert reaches youth in Danbury in 2011

Danbury area churches and youth ministries are cooperating to launch a concert seriespromoting alternative Friday Night events that are drug and alcohol free for young people at The Palace Theater.

Eight concerts are planned for 2011. This month’s inaugural concert features ”OUT OF HIDING” and ”HIGHER TRUTH.” Doors open at 7pm – Ends at 11pm.  Admission is $10.

Christians United For Israel will sponsor “A Night To Honor Israel,” Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Norwalk Town Hall, 125 East Avenue in Norwalk. Keynote Speakers are Rabbi Dr. Gerald Meister, a former advisor to Israel’s Foreign Ministry, and Robert Stearns, Founder of Eagles Wings Ministries.

There is no charge for this event, and it is open to the public.

21-Day Fast for Connecticut, beginning September 18th

Connecticut House of Prayer invites all churches and ministries across the state to join them in holding prayer meetings and night watches in their churches in a 21-day fast for Connecticut.

The fast will begin with a Night Watch starting at 6 PM on September 17 and continuing until 6 AM on the morning of September 18. This night watch will be held at the CT House of Prayer, 320 Brown Street, Hartford. Contact connecticuthouseofprayer at yahoo.com if you would like to join them on this fast. Weekly prayer points will be emailed to all participants.

“Vote Your Values” Seminar with Joseph Mattera, October 2nd

On October 2, 2010 the Pastoral Advisory board for the Family Institute of Connecticut is sponsoring a “Vote Your Values Seminar,” to be held at House of Restoration, 1665 Main Street in Hartford, CT. The event will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A question and answer period will follow the first session. A free will offering will be taken.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Joseph Mattera. Joseph Mattera has been in full-time ministry since 1980 and is currently the Presiding Bishop of Christ Covenant Coalition and Overseeing Bishop of Resurrection Church in New York, a multiethnic congregation of 40 nationalities that has successfully developed numerous leaders and holistic ministry in the New York region and beyond. Dr. Mattera has ministered extensively nationally and internationally, reaching out to many nations of the world including the former Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Turkey, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Holland, the Ukraine, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Russia, and Argentina, as well as many of the states in the USA. He is the author of two theological books on the Kingdom of God, entitled Ruling in the Gates (2003), and Kingdom Revolution (2009), and has appeared on nationally known Christian networks.
