New Haven church vandalized

Help support Bethel Temple Church Of God on Frank Street, in need of about $6,000 to replace stolen equipment.

Pastor Larry Pinkard will invoke the prophet Nehemiah from the pulpit Sunday — and tell a tale about how walls will be rebuilt on Frank Street.

The sermon will touch on the tale of two houses of worship attacked by evildoers, one in biblical times, one in 2009.

Black Rock Church expansion approved

After being turned down in 2005, Fairfield’s Black Rock Congregational Church has received permission for a major expansion from the Town of Fairfield’s Inland Wetlands Commission. At 85,000 square feet, the new church will be two and a half times as large as the present 34,000 square foot facility. Black Rock is one of Connecticut’s largest Evangelical congregations. Updates to Connecticut Church Map

Our Church Map, powered by Google Maps, is a great resource and it’s still growing as we continue to add Evangelical and Charismatic churches across the state. Click on a pin and you can find information such as:

  • church location
  • church web address
  • church phone number
  • link to additional info on the church from Google

We hope to add additional features in the future, so stay tuned.

We’ve also added a few more churches to the Map:

South Windsor pastor profiled

A nice profile from the Courant of a South Windsor pastor who’s come a long way back from terrible injuries suffered in a fire:

“Maybe the Lord allowed me to go through this trial as a teaching tool to point out how God wants us to respond when trials come to our life,” he said.

A born-again Christian, [Pastor Andrew] Knight has spoken in churches along the East Coast and as far away as Albuquerque, hoping to spread his message of faith.

“I used to think, ‘Well, fires only happen to someone else — tragedy would never happen to me,’” Knight said. “The question is, ‘How are you going to respond?’ That’s where my story has some teeth to it.”

This year, Knight is thankful he can walk and support himself financially. He has moved his startup church, Constitution Baptist Church, into a building he rents for $1 a month.

He counts these among his blessings. “I call them the doors of opportunity that the Lord has opened up. The Bible says that all promotion comes from above, so I have to deflect any thanks to the Lord.”
